Frieze is the happening of the week as it is the 20th anniversary of its London fair.
In Farringdon a seemingly new gallery called Ginny on Frederick is showcasing the exhibition called ACID-FREE by the south-korean born, London based, artist Choon Mi Kim. The gallery is having their debut at Frieze with one of Choon Mi Kims pieces.
Enjoy abstract art with a twist that is linked to both humour and challenging interpretations of day-to-day views of a Londoner. The artwork is named after things Londoners see daily such as “Smoking sandals” and “An open bag of crisps” but also with titles such as “I know this is deep”. The humour allows the viewer to take in the abstract artwork with an open mind. The paintings are influenced by her personal and cultural identity, as well as her surroundings in London.
Just as AW is blurring the lines between art and fashion, Choon Mi Kim is blurring the lines between everyday reality and art as well as the line between painting and drawing. 99 Charterhouse St, Barbican, London EC1M 6HR https://choonmi.com/
